About

An independent field station in Gothic, Colorado, since 1928.

Who We Are

The Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory is an independent nonprofit field station in Gothic, Colorado — a former silver-mining town at 9,500 feet that has been a place for science since 1928.

RMBL is one of very few field stations independent of university or government oversight. That independence is why researchers can commit to questions that take decades rather than seasons to answer.
